Potential development of Tockwith airfield
Land promoters Hallam Land are in the process of making planning applications for developing up to 1100 new homes on the former airfield site at Tockwith.

Working on behalf of the landowners and building contractors, Hallam Land, a division of Henry Boot, are making applications to North Yorkshire Council to make a significant development on the airfield site.
Meetings were held in February 2026 between Hallam Land and several stakeholder groups from the community. Parish Council Tockwith School Springbank Surgery Tockwith Sporsfield Trust Tockwith Together The aim of these meetings was for the groups to get a clear understanding of what was being proposed and how this would affect the community in future years. It was also an opportunity to have an early input of what we (the community) would like to see. Given the need for NYC to achieve ambitious housebuilding targets, there is an inevitability about the project. Therefore it is important that we have our say. The Neighbourhood Plan would certainly help in this, but it is unlikely to be in place in time to influence this development. So, a close dialogue with then is vital. Note:
Hallam Land are not house builders, but rather promoters of land use and development with skills in planning systems and marketing. |
Outcome of the meeting between Tockwith Together and Hallam Land
A number of important aspects to the proposal were revealed, which gave rise to concerns and considerations for the group. These are nicely summarised in a letter to Hallam Land which can be seen below. |
